Borroloola is situated 80 kilometres inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria in the Northern Territory, 250 kilometres west of the Queensland border. The town is located on the Katherine to Normanton section of an adventure drive known as the Savannah Way.
Aptly nicknamed the WayOutBack agricultural show by locals, it is held each year in the isolated town of Borroloola. The show is one of the smallest in the Northern Territory and swells the Borroloola population, attracting over 1,000 visitors and competitors coming for the exciting action of the local rodeo combined with a gymkhana and agriculture, gardening, lifestyle, arts, crafts and competitions.
The public holiday is held on the last Friday in June and is a holiday for the documented region around Borroloola.
